WELLINGTON MARRIAGE CELEBRANT – 25 YEARS EXPERIENCE
Celebrate your love, your way

I’m here to ensure every aspect of your wedding or civil union is crafted with care and attention, allowing you to focus on what truly matters—celebrating your love.
I believe in creating not just ceremonies, but unforgettable moments tailored uniquely to each couple. My approach blends professionalism with a commitment to community service. I prioritise making your special day stress-free and memorable. My fees are modest. If cost is a barrier, I only ask for my expenses to be covered.
I am a member of the Celebrants Association of New Zealand, ensuring I uphold professional standards and stay connected with the celebrant community.
I am a Wellington based marriage celebrant but I’m happy to travel to the Kapiti Coast or the Wairarapa.
Planning Your Ceremony
The great news is that you have a lot of flexibility in your wedding ceremony, but there are some things you should know:
The person officiating over the legal aspects of the ceremony must be an approved celebrant.
You can marry at any time, on any day of the week.
You need to apply for a Marriage Licence at least 3 working days before you get married. I suggest applying about 2 months before the big day. The quickest and easiest way to apply for a Marriage Licence is to apply online at https://marriages.services.govt.nz. The fee is currently $150.00. The Registrar will issue you with the Marriage Licence, together with two copies of the ‘Copy of Particulars of Marriage’.
The ceremony must take place at the venue described on the Marriage Licence.
You need two witnesses who can understand what happens at the ceremony. Children can be witnesses provided they are old enough to understand.
Personalising Your Ceremony
I will help you celebrate your love your way.
We will work together to make your hopes and dreams for your ceremony come true. And if you’re not sure exactly what your vision is, I can inspire you.
A wedding ceremony typically runs between 20 and 30 minutes, but you can make it as short and sweet or elaborate as you like.
Writing your own wedding vows will make your wedding special. The only requirement is that you each say: “I [name] take you [partner’s full name], to be my legal [wife/husband/partner]”, or something similar, at some point in the ceremony.
There are lots of ways to include friends and family, as well as your guests in your celebration.
You can choose music and readings that are meaningful to you. They don’t have to be traditional “wedding songs”. Be as creative as you like.

“Thank you Rae for helping to make our wedding celebration truly special. It was a pleasure to work with you on the plans for an intimate wedding in our garden. Rae supported us to design our wedding to be exactly the way we wanted it, working with us on the ‘script’ for the ceremony and providing practical advice about the legal requirements. The ceremony went smoothly and we had a beautiful day with friends and family.”
Jess and Ollie
We had the absolute pleasure of having Rae officiate our wedding. Her presence made our special day even more memorable. Rae is warm, empathetic, and took a genuine interest in our love story. This level of care and attention was evident in the personalized ceremony she crafted for us, which was not only beautiful and heartfelt but also deeply reflective of who we are as a couple.
Rae’s extensive experience in officiating weddings was clear throughout the entire process. Her calm and reassuring demeanor helped ease any anxieties we had, allowing us to fully enjoy the moment.
I highly recommend Rae to any couple seeking a wedding officiant who will bring warmth, understanding, and a touch of delightful spontaneity to their ceremony.
